Alternative Acne Treatments
That Sometimes Bring Relief

About Effective Natural Acne Treatments
Even today and despite a lot of research, the cause of acne is not fully revealed. There are many acne
treatments, apart from traditional medications, which can impede and sometimes even cure acne for some. These range
from dietary practices to all-natural skin applications.
Some hold the Chinese belief that acne is caused by toxins and “heat” in the blood. Others view acne as a
digestive problem which causes poisons to discharge into the skin. Whatever your belief, you may find that
consuming a low fat diet, maintaining proper hygiene and taking vitamins will actually minimize or eradicate your
acne, depending upon its type and severity.
Acne and diet
To follow an acne-inhibiting diet, keep your intake of saturated fat to a minimum in order to reduce tissue
damage and inflammation. Omega-3 fatty acids, however, are essential to cell health, maintaining cell membranes and
aiding in the movement of nutrients to the cells, so be sure to consume foods daily that contain Omega-3 or take
fish oil. Some also recommend abstaining from garlic, coffee and spicy foods as well as eating lots of fiber to
ensure daily bowel
movements.
Taking acidophilus capsules also will aid digestion. Those who advocate an acne-inhibiting diet also recommend
daily doses of Vitamin A, which is essential for healthy skin. Zinc also helps skin heal, and it reduces hormonal
imbalances. Diet advocates recommend Vitamin B-6 for acne that is triggered by menstruation. Vitamin B-6 helps the
body maintain proper metabolism and increases its release of hormones.
Good
acne treatments should remove acne completely from your skin! Some acne alternative treatments are applied
directly to the skin rather than ingested. These include a honey facial. Spread uncooked honey, which is widely
regarded as a skin revitalizing agent, onto your face and leave it five to ten minutes before washing it off. Tea
tree oil, which is said to inhibit the growth of bacteria, may also be applied to acne breakouts.
All natural acne treatments
Exfoliating your skin using all-natural ingredients is another alternative acne treatment. Citrus fruits contain
glycolic and lactic acids, which are both alpha-hydroxyl acids that act as natural exfoliates by lessening the
build-up of dead skin.
Before applying lemon juice to your face, mix it with water. After application, allow it to dry for no more than
10 minutes, and then rinse it off. If your skin is sensitive, add additional water to the juice so that you won’t
experience an unpleasant burning sensation.
Herbalists, too, have their own alternative suggestions for the treatment of acne. Some advocate teas that
contain goldenseal or Echinacea. Others suggest taking daily capsules of evening primrose oil or black current seed
oil.
Exercise and relaxation are also important factors in treating acne, as the body needs to be at its peak to ward
off infection.
Alternative Acne Treatments
Although alternative acne treatments are controversial, particularly with the medical profession, they work for
many. Their success varies from individual to individual and often depends primarily upon the acne’s severity.
One very interesting natural acne treatment system is called Acnezine. It has been developed by US based Revitol skincare laboratories and is said to be very powerful in both acne prevention and
acne treatment as well.
